Senegal Parrot

Currently not available

Senegal Parrots, are medium-small, parrots native to Africa, particularly Senegal and surrounding regions. They are valued as pets due to their lively personalities, striking green plumage, and ability to mimic sounds and speech. These parrots are similar in size to Sun and Jenday Conures. They feature a bright green body with a distinctive yellow-orange patch on their chest, gray heads, and striking yellow eyes. They are highly social and intelligent birds that thrive on interaction and mental stimulation. In the wild, Senegal parrots are known to live in large flocks and feed on seeds, fruits, and vegetables. As pets, they require a balanced diet, regular exercise, and social engagement to stay healthy and happy. Their friendly nature and adaptability make them popular among bird enthusiasts worldwide.
As with all pet parrots, they require ample space to allow for exercise, play and physical activity in addition to social interaction to thrive. A diet relying mainly on seed mixes is too high in fat in addition to being deficient in vitamins A and D and calcium which will lead to health problems. Appropriate diets for pet parrots may include pellets, sprouts, a variety of fresh produce, and a small amount of seed.
