Picazuro Pigeon
Currently not available
The Picazuro Pigeon is a species of bird found in Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, and Paraguay. It is a stout bodied pigeon with distinctive coloration. The Picazuro pigeon has grayish-blue plumage with a beautifully iridescent, scalloped pattern on the back of its neck. These birds are highly adaptable and usually inhabit open woodland, savannas, and urban areas where they can easily find food. They feed mainly on seeds and grains, often foraging on the ground. They are social birds, commonly seen in flocks, and are known for their gentle cooing sounds. Their adaptability to various environments has made them a common sight in both rural and urban landscapes across their range. Not commonly found in aviculture, we have found them to be a delightful bird to have in our large, planted aviaries.
