Orange-winged Amazon
Mature female breeder. Not for pet!
Orange-wing Amazons are vibrant parrots native to the South American countries of Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Brazil. Known for their striking green plumage complemented by striking orange patches on their wings, these parrots are highly recognizable and popular among bird enthusiasts. They typically inhabit tropical rainforests, and they are also adaptable to forest edges and secondary growth areas. Orange-wing Amazons are social birds, often seen flying in pairs or small groups, and they have a loud, melodious call that adds to their lively presence. They are intelligent and capable of mimicking sounds, making them popular pet birds.
As with all pet parrots, they require ample space to allow for exercise, play and physical activity in addition to social interaction to thrive. A diet relying mainly on seed mixes is too high in fat in addition to being deficient in vitamins A and D and calcium which will lead to health problems. Appropriate diets for pet parrots may include pellets, sprouts, a variety of fresh produce, and a small amount of seed.
