Mexican Green Conure
In the nursery, hand-feeding now!
Mexican Green Conures, also known simply as Green Conures, are vibrant, medium/small-sized parrots native to Mexico and parts of Central America. Recognizable by their uniform bright green plumage, they also have a proportionally large, light colored beak. These intelligent and playful birds are highly social and thrive in flocks, making them popular pets for bird enthusiasts who can provide plenty of mental stimulation and social interaction. In the wild, they inhabit desert scrub, tropical forests, and agricultural areas, where they feed on seeds, fruits, and nuts.
As with all pet parrots, they require ample space to allow for exercise, play and physical activity in addition to social interaction to thrive. A diet relying mainly on seed mixes is too high in fat in addition to being deficient in vitamins A and D and calcium which will lead to health problems. Appropriate diets for pet parrots may include pellets, sprouts, a variety of fresh produce, and a small amount of seed.
