Brown-throated Conure
Currently not available
The Brown-throated Conure is a small parrot species native to southern Central America and northern South America. In the wild, they inhabit tropical forests, savannas, and shrublands, where they feed on a diet of fruits, seeds, nuts, and flowers. It features bright green plumage, a distinctive brown throat and upper chest, which give it its name and variable amounts of orange coloration around the eyes. It is known for its playful and social behavior, often forming strong bonds with humans and other animals. Brown-throated conures are popular in the pet trade due to their lively personalities and ability to mimic sounds.
As with all pet parrots, they require ample space to allow for exercise, play and physical activity in addition to social interaction to thrive. A diet relying mainly on seed mixes is too high in fat in addition to being deficient in vitamins A and D and calcium which will lead to health problems. Appropriate diets for pet parrots may include pellets, sprouts, a variety of fresh produce, and a small amount of seed.
