Black-capped Conure

Currently not available

The Black-capped Conure a very small, lively parrot of the genus Pyrrhura is native to South America, particularly found in Peru, Bolivia and Brazil. In their natural habitat, Black-capped Conures thrive in forested areas, where they forage for fruits, seeds, and nuts. It features a vibrant green body, white scalloping on the breast and neck, red wing patches and a distinctive black cap on its head. These birds are highly social and intelligent, often forming strong bonds with their owners when kept as pets. They are popular among bird enthusiasts for their playful nature, pleasing plumage patterns and relatively quiet calls.
As with all pet parrots, they require ample space to allow for exercise, play and physical activity in addition to social interaction to thrive. A diet relying mainly on seed mixes is too high in fat in addition to being deficient in vitamins A and D and calcium which will lead to health problems. Appropriate diets for pet parrots may include pellets, sprouts, a variety of fresh produce, and a small amount of seed.
